TAKE THE FIT FATHERS DAY PLEDGE: Childhood obesity is at an all-time high, while hypertension and other health risks are increased in men 20 years and older. This national campaign asks fathers to commit to specific healthy choices. It starts with dads on Father’s Day taking the pledge and following the simple steps to wellness. Exercise and healthy eating saves generations.

National Ambassador Kyle Arrington of the Baltimore Ravens: Playing in the NFL means constant elevation with new training techniques, eating healthy and maintaining consistent, mental positivity. Also, rest is far too important and I need to conserve as much energy as possible for my defense. But off the field I’m a family guy who dedicates success to my wife and two kids including the addition of a new baby boy in January. Together our teamwork is strong and focused. So make sure you take the Fit Fathers Day Pledge!

Fit Fathers Day 2016 Youth Ambassador: Journey Butler is your normal, super active teenager. The 13-year-old is involved in a nationally competitive double-dutch jump rope team, the Greenbelt S.I.T.Y. Stars and is also cheerleader and an aspiring rapper. Check out this adorable video about ratting out on her older brother called “I’m Telling.” A few months ago Journey was diagnosed with Renal Medullary Carcinoma (RMC), a rare and highly aggressive form of cancer affecting young Black patients that carry the Sickle Cell trait. The average survival rate is 12 months but some patients survive more than two years. There is no cure yet for RMC but early detection can help by way of knowledge of the disease, its symptoms and getting tested if the Sickle Cell trait is present. Journey’s family has started #JourneyToHappiness to assist and encourage people against this lethal opposition.

Lead by example so your child becomes the example. This is an event to benefit Pediatric Cancer and promote good health. So eat clean, stay active and continue to energize your life.
