Hello friends and family. Please join Fit Fathers for 7 days of purity while consuming fresh, organic fruits and vegetables to clean out the gastrointestinal (GI) and prepare the body for a new spring season. Additionally, the goal is to increase our fiber intake as well as vitamin, mineral and antioxidant quantities. Without the added fat in the diet the body will begin burning fat pockets hanging around our glands, organs and stomach. Continuing exercise will further reduce or melt away the additional adipose fat.

Keep in mind fruits and veggies are complex carbohydrates which are human’s main source of fuel, which is converted into glucose to be transported into every cell for energy. Thus, veggies are also composed of protein so don’t feel like you will be leaving out any major food group. Moreover, we only need 5% to 10% of our daily caloric intake to stem from proteins.

Beginning Sunday we will eat only raw and steamed vegetation. The basic premise of the reboot is to consume fruits in the morning, fruits and veggies for lunch and veggies for dinner. Only spring/alkaline water, coconut water and decaf herbal tea should be drank in-between. Though, you have the option to also juice your produce and make smoothies as long as the ingredients are just fruits and veggies. Vegetables will be eaten raw such as salads or lightly steamed or sautéed in water.

Please, no oils, butters, nuts, seeds supplements or snacks. We will eat like herbivorous animals which are anatomically and physiologically designed to feed off of plant material as the main nutrition for their diets. After the spring break I also suggest a colonic to further cleanse the colon and remove old debris from your digestive pipes.

Fit Fathers was created to help assist with family fitness, nutrition and wellness education in a sociable and friendly manner. If dad’s can spearhead that movement, alongside mothers, than children will typically and habitually follow suit.

Shopping List

The day before the reboot make sure to visit your grocery store for the best organic produce you can find. Here is a sample list but certainly you can expand based on your likings. Only purchase enough for a few days then return mid-week for the remainder of the cleanse. However, the more diverse your selection is the greater the health results will be since each cruciferous green veggie and each citrus fruit or berry has its own unique healing properties. Fruits: Oranges, apples, pineapples, lemons, grapefruits, strawberries, blueberries, mangos, watermelons, bananas, pears, peaches, grapes and cherries.

Veggies — Kale, spinach, cucumbers, carrots, beets, celery, broccoli, wheatgrass, cabbage, peppers, tomatoes, collard greens, Swiss chard, arugula, mushrooms, onions, asparagus, leaks and zucchini.

A typical day of consumption will look like this:

  • Morning: Fruit salad and water or tea, a grapefruit and a bowl of berries
  • Morning snack: A mango
  • Lunch: A big, fat kale salad squeezed with fresh lemon juice and an apple
  • Afternoon snack: Green smoothie
  • Dinner: Veggie stir fry or cauliflower steaks

Sample Recipes

Fit Fathers Collard Wrap D-Light

First simmer plantains in water in a separate pan. Then stir fry (in water) onions, peppers, red cabbage, mushrooms and pineapple. The small amount of water and our choice of seasonings (garlic, vegit, nutritional yeast, Himalayan sea salt and Braggs Liquid Aminos) make the perfect oil-free sauce for the veggies. Afterwards lightly layer the raw organic collard with sliced avocados. Add the veggies and plantains and then roll into a wrap. Total time is 10 to 15 minutes!

Green Smoothie

This smoothie packs an abundance of calcium, iron and fiber. 6 cups of fresh baby spinach or kale; 1 1/2 cups fresh pineapple chunks or pears; 3 cups of green grapes; 1 1/2 bananas; 1 1/2 cups coconut water and 1 1/2 cups of ice. Simply blend all ingredients together. Add more ice for a thicker smoothie.
