One of the greatest family oriented and exciting activities during the cold fall and winter months is indoor rock climbing. Not only does it present exercise and physical fitness challenges but also taps into your coordination skills. For a play date I recently visited Earth Treks Rockville with another Fit Father and our daughters who each had  a blast.

Since the girls are best friends it was a no-brainer that they would challenge one another with a bet at who could reach the top of the three walls we each scaled. One of the tricks to learn is to push off with your legs so you don’t overwhelm your upper body. But of course everyone was immediately sore from improper technique. Nevertheless the two-hour morning was energizing and increased our collective bond. Next time will we return with some training under our belt. Afterwards we took the girls to get smoothies to keep the healthful platform on deck.
