The Quest for a Healthier Tomorrow in Philadelphia

The “Unskrptd” TV series made a pit stop in the City of Brotherly Love (Philadelphia) to journey with 14 single mothers and their children who benefited from “Family Meal,” a female workshop designed to give low-income, single mothers the tools necessary to access fresh, wholesome foods in their communities while creating family meals within budget. Hosted by the Asante Samuel Foundation, Samantha Carrie Johnson, and Delilah Winder at Philadelphia’s Dorrance H. Hamilton Center for Culinary Enterprises, the event was designed to raise awareness about healthful living and to drive home the points that “a family that eats together grows together” and “health and wellness starts at the seed level.”
