Swim, Bike, Run: Quantico Tri

The Quantico Tri features a start near Officer Candidates School with a 750 meter open water swim in the Potomac River. Athletes transition to a 20K (12.4 mile) cycle tour of the Marine Corps Base that was founded in 1917. The Quantico Tri concludes with a 5K run, the distance every Marine must complete annually as part of the Marine Corps physical fitness test. For those desiring only to run, the MCM offers the Quantico 12K to be hosted alongside the Quantico Tri. The run is a perfect distance at the perfect time in MCM training.

16th Annual Poplar Spring 5K Run for the Animals

Poplar Spring Animal Sanctuary will be holding its 16th Annual 5K Run for the Animals and 1-Mile Fun Walk on Sunday, May 19th. All funds raised will go towards the life saving work Poplar Spring does every day. The funds will care and feed the farm animals that live at Poplar Spring, as well as educate the public about compassion towards all animals.

Poplar Spring was given $12,000 in matching donations. So all donations will be doubled! Please share this page with your family and friends. Your involvement is critical to Poplar Spring’s success. Thank you for all your help.

Join Us for Reggae Marathon 2019: Run in Jamaica’s Paradise

With the 2019 Reggae Marathon race day on Sunday, December 8, it’s not too early to start planning for Jamaica’s premier marathon event.
The Reggae Marathon & Half Marathon is Jamaica’s premier International Marathon Event. Marathoners, sports enthusiasts as well as beginners, converge in Negril, Jamaica’s capital of casual, for a fun event characterized by good vibes and lots of Reggae music. Enthusiastic supporters come out along the looped, internationally certified course to support participants. Meanwhile, hard working volunteers offer uniquely packaged water and re-hydration fluids at every mile. The pulsating Reggae music on course also keeps participants in an “irie” spirit, as they burn the mileage.

Run to the NAIAS Public Show Opening

The Auto Show 5K makes its seventh appearance on the Motor City scene, Saturday, Jan. 19, with a run/walk that celebrates all things cars and cardio. Organized by the Michigan Fitness Foundation and Crim Fitness Foundation, the 5K run/walk starts at 8:30 a.m. at the DNR Outdoor Adventure Center, and takes place on the Dequindre Cut, Detroit’s celebrated trail and urban art gallery.

Finishing in time for the opening of the NAIAS Public Show, the 5K gives participants the opportunity to purchase discounted auto show tickets when registering online for the race.

Each Auto Show 5K entrant will be provided with a race shirt inspired by the urban artwork on the Dequindre Cut (must be registered by Jan. 15 to be guaranteed a shirt). All finishers will be presented with a commemorative Auto Show 5K finishers medal.

Registration is $36, and proceeds help fund health, nutrition and physical activity programs through the Michigan Fitness Foundation.

Mountain Bike Night Rides

Description

Grab your bike, a light, and hit the trails at night! Join St. Louis Area Mountain Bikers (SLAMB) and Gateway Off-Road Cyclist (GORC) for a new season of night rides in a St. Charles County park each month. These challenging rides are open to experienced cyclists and take place on Friday nights. All riders must wear a helmet and have a light (600 lumen or greater is recommended). 12th Annual Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot 5K Fun Run: Downtown Annapolis

DATE: Thursday, November 22nd, 2018 (Thanksgiving Day!) at 9:00am

The Fun:

Join the Fleet Feet Sports crew as we host the 12th Annual Thanksgiving Day 5K Turkey Trot . The run is a gorgeous tour of downtown Annapolis and will benefit Girls on the Run Greater Chesapeake. This event is not officially timed, but we will have a finisher’s clock at the end of the run.

Once again we will award a prize for the best turkey costume.  Are you ready to get creative?

Strollers, kids, and dogs are welcome to join in the fun!


The Course:

Our Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot will take place throughout downtown Annapolis. The run will take place on the sidewalks, but traffic will be at a minimum. The run will start and finish at Fleet Feet Annapolis’ original location at 318 6th Street in Eastport (currently Homes for America). FREE parking is available along the streets in Eastport and downtown. PLEASE plan to carpool as best you can.

Port-o-potties will be available in the parking lot, along with expanded water comfort stations pre and post run. Also – Marty’s famous homemade pumpkin bread, Naval Bagels and refreshments will be provided post-run.

As in previous years, we will be separate the run into three groups for crowd control on the route.

  • 9:00am – Group 1: 8:30/min mile or faster
  • 9:03am – Group 2: 8:30/min mile – 10:00/min mile
  • 9:06am – Group 3: 10:00/min mile or slower. (Best for strollers/dogs.)

Registration is $35 with a t-shirt or $20 without a t-shirt. Children 12 and under are free (no t-shirt) or $15.00 with a t-shirt. T-shirts are only guaranteed to those who register online by 11:59 PM on November 4. A limited number of t-shirts will be available for $20 at packet pick-up and on the day of the run. Same day registration will be available, but lines will be very long so we highly encourage everyone to sign-up online ahead of time.

T-Shirt and Packet Pick Up:

In order to avoid long lines on the day of the run, we offer a convenient t-shirt pick up in the store November 17-21 during regular store hours. We are located at 2572 Solomon’s Island Rd, Annapolis, MD 21401 in the Annapolis Harbour Center shopping center. We highly recommend you use this option. The t-shirt line can get super crazy on Thanksgiving morning!
