2016 Race for Every Child 5K and Kids’ Dash

On Saturday, October 1, at Freedom Plaza in downtown Washington, D.C., Children’s National Health System will host its fourth annual Race for Every Child 5K and Kids’ Dash. On this day, Pennsylvania Avenue is transformed into a village of family fun activities from fitness challenges to face painting. Children’s National touches the lives of nearly every child in our community. The Race for Every Child is an opportunity for the community to come together to have fun and help kids grow up stronger.

By supporting the Race for Every Child Fit Fathers is helping Children’s National raise critical funds to ensure that the nearly 220,000 children who it treats each year can receive the same level of world-class service and care, regardless of their family’s ability to pay.

Join us in helping Children’s National continue to provide specialized medical care, innovative treatments, and wellness and preventive services that children and families in this region—and around the world—so urgently need. Visit raceforeverychild.org to learn more and register for this year’s event, which includes a 5K run/walk, a Kids’ Dash, and a host of family-friendly activities.

2014 Race for Every Child: The Finish Line is Just the Beginning

2nd-Annual-Race-For-Every-Child............ 039Wow, what another exciting year down on Freedom Plaza in NW Washington, DC. We would like to congratulate the Fit Fathers and families who finished the second annual Race for Every Child. Moreover, a big thank you is in order for the contributions received in support of Children’s National Health System. With over 4,000 runners and walkers it was a magnificent day of service for a life enhancing cause.

The amazing outpour of support from the community raised $1,042,209 and counting. The funds will help provide the best possible care for all families and give kids a greater chance to live healthy lives. On site, the 5K walk and run excited the crowds while adults were entertained with vendors such as Road Runner Sports — the world’s largest running store‎ — and the youth amplified by super heroes like Batman. At the College Scooters & Cycles table kids printed their hands on the Genuine Buddy Scooter which will be donated back to Children’s National. Goodie bags, post-race snacks such as bananas, the Kid’s Dash, contests to win Redskins tickets, a mini iPad and more made this yet another memorable race. [Read more…]
