2018 Hyundai IONIQ Electric Limited: An Autoganic Delight

Experienced by Kimatni D. Rawlins

My perspective on alternative energy sources is quite simple. I absolutely love electric vehicles (EV) and the potential they have for impacting and reducing human reliance on crude oil. Global Warming is not a myth folks so we have to absolutely do all we can to sustain Mother Earth’s future by righting many of the wrongs committed through pollution. Therefore, I become enamored when automotive brands like Hyundai commit to resolutions that help rectify the quandary by way vehicles running off our electrical grid such as the 2018 IONIQ Electric Limited we recently tested.

Our midsize sedan came in a Symphony Air Silver exterior hue and black on black interior which was rather roomy and designed with recycled and ecologically-sensitive materials. In the backrow the kids had all the legroom needed for their daily antics without complaints and the headroom for my 6’ frame was more than adequate. Moreover, to reduce battery usage, Hyundai’s climate control system can be switched to ‘Driver only’ mode. [Read more…]

Eating Soulfully at Cafe Ono in Kona, Hawaii

Experienced by Kimatni D. Rawlins

For three days we zipped around the Big Island of Kona, Hawaii trekking to gardens, national parks, volcano sites, healthy eats and lava attractions. We admired the natives and their beautiful lives while they ogled in reply. Fun, energetic places make you want to engage in fun active routines such as the set of reverse dips I completed on the hitched Thule rack carrying our Specialized road bike while admiring the all-mighty Pacific during lunch break. Hyundai Hope On Wheels visits the Marine Corp Historic Half and Semper Fred 5K

Hyundai_Hope_On_Wheels_MCM_5K...09It was a wet and chilly day at the Marine Corp Half Marathon and Semper Fred 5K held in Virginia at the Fredericksburg Expo and Conference Center. The run took us to Central Park, through the historic downtown streets and up the now famous Hospital Hill. The challenge of the hill-induced course and the inclement weather conditions brought more reason and solidarity to the 8,000 runners that crossed the finish line.

With race medals dangling across proud participants, we were especially touched by 9-year-old Mika Sumi who finished her 3rd 5K of the year and another 9-year-old who ran a 1:45 in the Half. Hyundai Hope On Wheels, by far the leading auto brand to help kids fight cancer, raises awareness and donates funds for the research of the chronic and degenerative disease. Since 1998 every Hyundai dealer has donated $14 from the sale of each vehicle to Hope On Wheels for an aggregate total of $58 million to children’s hospitals and organizations nationwide.
