2021 Kia K5 EX and GT-Line: The Choice is Yours

Experienced by Kimatni D. Rawlins

It was an interesting 24-hour period as Kia dropped off both a meditative Sapphire Blue 2021 K5 EX and a mystic 2021 Passion Red K5 GT-Line for me to evaluate side by side. Of course, classic rap group Black Sheep and their timeless hit, The Choice is Yours, came to mind as I kept going back and forth on the color scheme. “You can get with this, or you can get with that. I think you’ll get with this, for this is where it’s at.” So, I jumped into the “Matrix” with both the red and blue pill to put equal time behind the wheel of each.

With a starting price of $27,990 for the EX and $25,390 for the GT-Line ($965 destination fee), think of the mid-sized sedan as the little dude in the crew. It’s like a Kia Stinger before the agility and strength training program kicked off. I even see a mix of Hyundai’s new Sonata in the front. But the Shark skin-inspired mesh grille needs more pompousness to pair with the rest of the athletic body and chin spoiler. I think it’s too thin and narrow and the pattern is strange. Kia says the K5’s roster position is above the Forte and below the Cadenza. [Read more…]

Kia Face Shield Delivery to Howard University Hospital

Fit Fathers is back in the community with Kia Motors America and Automotive Rhythms delivering Kia-produced face shields for frontline workers at Howard University Hospital. It truly feels good giving, dedicating, and volunteering to help those in need. Hospital CEO Anita Jenkins was very appreciative of the gifts and collaboration and the 2020 Telluride SX SUV was a hit with the hospital staffers. Good times!

2020 Kia Telluride: Fun Family Adventures

Experienced by Kimatni D. Rawlins

The all-new 2020 Kia Telluride 8-passenger SUV is pretty fly, so fly people are aligning the design language with that of a Range Rover. Ha, I guess it’s never a bad thing when your brand is compared to the styling of British luxury elites. Anyhow, the Telluride, aptly named after a former Colorado mining town in the Rocky Mountains, is perfect for those who enjoy the lifestyle of adventure sports such as the enterprising crew at Fit Fathers. Kings Dominion’s National Roller Coaster Day Weekend

Experienced by Kimatni D. Rawlins

My youngest daughter Kaiyana (Aya) and I love summer road trips no matter the distance. Whether we are visiting family in South Jersey or headed to Virginia Beach for the waves, the one-on-one time together is always exciting. So, to all our Fit Fathers please make sure to hit the road to escort your kids to their favorite destinations before time is up and “back to school” anxieties kick in. It’s always ideal for the creation of intimate memories. For us the target was Kings Dominion in Doswell, VA this past weekend for the roller coaster experience including the speedy Intimidator 305.

Aya and I were coming from Silver Spring, MD which is about 2 hours down 95 South. However, Kings Dominion is just 15 minutes from Richmond, VA for the lucky ones. Our ride of choice to warp us there — a Hichroma Red 2018 Kia Stinger GT2 AWD V6 loaned to Fit Fathers for such purposes — was perfect in alleviating time concerns due to quick acceleration and racer like agility. Aya kept telling me to stop acting like I was operating a roller coaster since the power from the Twin Turbo 365-horsepower V6 was so addictive. I told her not to worry because we were blessed with Brembo brakes for immediate stopping power. “Brembo” she asked?

2015 Kia Sedona: Cool Kids Van of Choice

Kia Sedona

Words by Kimatni D. Rawlins

Here’s a neat little trick. Have someone blindfold and escort you to your new 2015 Korean people mover. Take a seat, strap in and grip the multi-talented steering wheel. Remove the blinder, open your eyes and reimagine the possibilities of a 20th century utilitarian vehicles that is cavernous and all-inclusive of transcendent style, invigorating mobility and technologically savvy for the task at hand. Yes, it’s still a minivan, but one that redefines convention of the most traditional family vehicle in the marketplace. And if you happened to see Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day this past weekend then you will get my drift. I’m pretty sure the calamity and misadventures of Steve Carell’s character, Ben Cooper, and his squad of five would have been squandered if they were rolling in a 2015 Kia Sedona. [Read more…]
