Under Armour Performance Center

Welcome to the Under Armour Performance Center at Headquarters in Baltimore, MD. Executives in marketing say the goal is to make sure employees stay fit at all costs. If you are surrounded by active energy and the requisite facilities are omnipresent, then the likelihood of maintaining fitness goals will become a permanent mindset. The platform includes group classes such as spinning, a boxing studio, strength training equipment, cardio machines and an outdoor turf field overlooking the water for individual skills and drills.

The Performance Center is also open to the public and of course visiting athletes. Hopefully the next Fit Fathers “Social Workout” will take place here. Stay tuned!

Mountain Biking with the Crew: A Fit Fathers Social Workout

Mountain_Biking_Social_Workout...13

Words by Kimatni D. Rawlins / Vision by Henri Fisher

It was an amazing weekend with the Fit Fathers crew as we hit Schaeffer Farms Mountain Bike Park on hardtails in Gaithersburg, MD. Typically when a group of dudes get together to catch up it’s at a sports bar, club or a live game. Nothing is wrong with either if that’s your cup of tea. For me, I am happy to have broken free from habits that I no longer care for. In comparison to my old self I’d rather bike or hike within the natural mystic of life with my brothers and sisters while eating nuts and berries opposed to clubbing with baby ballers. Thus, it’s amazing how quickly enlightenment is ascertained when the path to purity is chosen. There are never any excuses for energizing your body incessantly.

We call them “Social Workouts” whereas a group of dads, moms, kids or friends of the family get together for an exercise-focused activity in an environment conducive for life enhancing socializing. Prior examples include running and hiking meet-ups at national parks and local high school tracks. This past Saturday seven Fit Fathers went out on what is to be the first of a cadre of planned mountain bike outings.  And for those who didn’t own a cycle we made a call to Race Pace in Columbia, MD and reserved a few of their rentals for $45 a day. Again, “no excuses” is our daily mantra. “This experience provided a great alternative to the regular routine of weekly gym workouts. Both physically and mentally challenging, the scenic path allowed us to truly appreciate both the power and beauty of nature,’ said Shawn Ciers. “Enjoying this time with fellow brothers that wanted to spend a Saturday morning greeting mother nature opposed to snoring in bed or playing video games made this outing and the conversations magnificent!” [Read more…]

Family & Friends Social Workout

Group_Fitness_The_Social_Workout....014What do you do when family comes in town? Well, we certainly hope you do not sit around eating cake all day. How about fruit smoothies and “social workouts” at the local high school field along with a few friends and their families? That’s exactly what we did this weekend. Sprints, football drills, stadium stairs, hill work and more was the formula for the 75-minute metabolic workout with every man, woman and child that participated. Everyone is feeling refreshed and energized we’re told!

So please continue to encourage your loved ones and close buddies to join you for a fun and exciting workout with the kids. Then refresh with your favorite fruit smoothie such as the Tango Mango featuring apple juice, mangos, berries, bananas and flaxseeds.

Photo Recap: Fit Fathers “Super Social Workout”

IMG_4481First of all, we would to thank the 60 + men, women, and children who rose early this morning and joined Fit Fathers and Rise And Sweat for an energetic track workout at Bowie High in Bowie, MD. We respect your effort, dedication, and willingness to seek positive change in your lives. Our fitness and training partners were impressive as well. One love to Candice Nicole, Yolanda Scott, Tiffani Rhodes, Michaelangelo Bance, and June Lee Williams Evans. However, the sprint competition amongst the kids was very entertaining and heartfelt. The morning focused on dynamic stretching, plyometric exercises, calisthenics, and running in the form of striding and sprint intervals. In addition we hosted a walking group for those with bad joints or beginners to the trade.

See everyone soon at the next Maryland Social Workout which will be in early September. Remember, Stay Active, Eat Well, and Energize Your Life!
